Kaspersky Labs understands the security benefits of password management. Kaspersky is a world leader in internet security that consistently outperforms most antivirus and internet security competitors. However, they also understand that you don't always have to reinvent the wheel to provide a stellar product. They worked closely with Sticky Password to develop the TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award winning Kaspersky Password Manager.
Kaspersky Labs recognized Sticky Password as an exceptional product and obtained the rights to rebrand its interface as a Kaspersky product. The products are nearly identical. When we asked a Kaspersky PR Manager what the company has added to this software since last year, he said there were only a few additions, such as integration tools for the Google Chrome browser. When we spoke with a representative from Sticky Password, he related that they have worked closely with Kaspersky – even in the product updates– so for the most part, the two password managers are the same. Unlike antivirus software, this type of software requires few updates, as long as the base application is first rate. For the most part, the products on our lineup have only added browser-compatibility updates and mobile versions since we reviewed them last year.
Kaspersky's password manager creates complex, difficult to hack passwords and can bypass keyloggers and phishing attempts to help keep your passwords and personal information secure. It can safely auto-fill long forms and easily manage more than one account per URL. It provides a variety of authentication methods, including a Bluetooth connection to your mobile phone. You can also take a portable version with you on a USB drive to use your passwords on other computers.
Kaspersky nearly reaches perfection when it comes to password management features. Its password software can manage multiple profiles, save protected memos, automatically fill in forms and launch websites. You can even set it up to automatically log you in to certain websites and launch specific commands. Using this software, we easily added new accounts for commonly used sites such as Gmail and Facebook. One feature we like is that it tests your links for validity and login compatibility when you attempt to add an account, so you know instantly if you entered incorrect information or if the site is unsafe.
The software has a variety of preset templates, including some to manage and securely store your software licenses and internet browser settings. It also has templates for popular password-protected accounts such as credit cards and bank accounts. It supports hotkeys for fast logins, and you can add trusted sites that can bypass Kaspersky's security blocks if needed.
Kaspersky Password Manager can save time by giving you the option to add new logins and links to your database when you sign up for new accounts. For example, if you sign up for Hulu, the password manager will ask you if you want to add that information to the database. If you consent, it will add the URL and your username and password to a new account in the database.
The software can help you manage multiple accounts easily. For example, if you have a personal and a business Twitter account, you just go to the Twitter login page and then click the small key icon in the Kaspersky browser toolbar. This will give you access to all the account profiles you have for that specific login page, or URL, and then you simply choose which Twitter account you want to log in to. The more time we spent testing this password manager, the more we found to like about it. We feel that it is a highly capable password management tool.
Kaspersky is a world leader in the internet security arena. The company has used its internet security and antivirus experience to create an extremely secure password manager that completely encrypts sensitive information and data transfers. The software also provides total protection against keyloggers through instant logins and a virtual keyboard for manually entering passwords and contact information. Additionally, it verifies all the sites you visit to determine whether they are genuine or clever phishing attempts before it enters your login information.
Password Manager is compatible with a variety of master login options, including a password, USB device or a Bluetooth device such as a mobile phone. To protect your data should you walk away from your computer unexpectedly, you can set an inactive time-out, which will log you out of the password manager if you are not actively using it. Its password generator can create unique passwords based on your preferences, such whether your passwords include capital letters, numbers and symbols. Using Kaspersky, you do not have to wonder if your sensitive and private data will be compromised.
Like many password managers, Kaspersky does not yet offer a compatible mobile phone or tablet version. However, this software is portable and can run securely from a USB drive. The USB drive can hold a fully functional version of the software with your data securely stored on the device. Even if you lose your USB drive, your data will remain secure because it is encrypted and safely locked behind your master password.
To use the portable version, you simple insert your USB device into the PC or laptop you want to use. Then, you can launch the software and visit any of your password-protected accounts. When you finish using that computer, you simply remove the USB drive. All traces of the software and your passwords are inaccessible from the host PC. Although your mobile phone Bluetooth tool can be used to login to the software, it cannot run the software. Kaspersky does not yet offer fully functional mobile versions.
