Features Set:  

SurfSecret offers all of the basic tools you need to keep your passwords and credit card information safe, not to mention save you tons of time and worry. It can also import CSV files if you have information already stored on your computer and it can back up your information as a PWL file.

This password manager can automatically fill forms, such as your name, address, phone number, email account and telephone number into web forms. It can also add credit card information like credit card number and type as well as expiration dates and security codes. And for added versatility you can set up the program to work with multiple users and it is portable. You can quickly configure a USB device to run the small program on any computer you use, so no matter where you are at or which computer your are using you can always have your usernames and passwords readily available.

It takes a little bit of time to enter your information, but you only have to do it once which is nice. So for example, if you want it to work with your Gmail account, you just simply enter the url, your username and password and save, then just click on “gmail” in your passwords account and it will automatically open Internet Explorer and log you in if you set it up to do that.

As mentioned above, we would really like to see it work with other browsers besides Internet Explorer (IE), such as with FireFox, Opera or even Safari. However, we know the manufacturer is working on developing this expanded capability now, we will let you know when this feature is available. However if you are like 70% of the user population, IE compatibility should suit you just fine.

Ease of Use:  

We found SurfSecret Keypad easy to use. We tested it by having it automatically enter credit card and personal information into web forms and we tested it by having it login to various online accounts.

The main desktop interface has four simple buttons, for adding passwords, credit cards, addresses and users. Each button links to a simple form where you enter information like urls, user names, passwords, credit card numbers and so on. After we entered some sample information we used the program to successfully fill web forms and to login to Twitter and FaceBook. We did notice a bit of a lag when logging in to our Twitter account, but this could have been due to other factors not related to the software like server or Internet service issues.

Ease of Installation:  

SurfSecret Keypad software installed very quickly and we had no trouble configuring our USB device. It works with all types of Windows Operating Systems and only requires 14MB of drive space. The only thing we noticed which was somewhat annoying is that when we would minimize the desktop interface it would close, so we had to keep reopening it. We are not sure why that kept happening, so we left it open and onscreen while we tested it to avoid this problem.

Help/Support:  

This software is simple and easy to use; nonetheless, good support options are always nice to have available should you need it. SurfSecret offers FAQs and other information online and email support. However, we did not see telephone or chat support offered.

Security:  

This password manager has all of the security features we were looking for including back up tools, password encryption, master password hint tools and the ability to lock the program. It also has keylogging and phishing protection. Phishing scams are often a result of clicking on a link to a familiar site from an email message, like to MySpace for example, the site will look like MySpace but the url will be slightly off. But if you go through SurfSecret it can connect to the real MySpace and will not put your password information into the fake site with the incorrect url.

One thing to keep in mind when using a program like this is that it will not release your master password to you if you forget it, so make sure you really know your password. This is to protect your information should you lose your USB device for example and it prevents someone from trying to obtain your passwords from your computer. It can also be set to automatically log out, so if you get up from your computer and are away for a while it will automatically log you out for extra protection.

SurfSecret Keypad is simple, easy to use and quite capable. In our tests it quickly entered our information accurately and logged into our favorite sites effortlessly. This password manager is portable and offers most of the tools we were looking for.
